Parenting Consulting/PTE encompasses the following areas:
Parenting Consultant (PC)
A Parenting Consultant is a neutral third party that assists parents in resolving their disputes, and if necessary, makes a binding decision regarding the disputed issue if resolution cannot be agreed upon. A Parenting Consultant is your own personal mediator and judge, working for your family. The first step in the process is to determine the issues and attempt to mediate them to resolution. However, when parents are at an impasse and unable to agree, the Parenting Consultant then steps into the role of a Judge and decides the issue, to bring resolution to the dispute. Having a Parenting Consultant saves clients’ money usually spent on attorneys in costly litigation, and brings about a faster resolution than going to Court to have a Judge issue a decision. A Parenting Consultant, when working with a family over a period of time, has greater knowledge of the family and unique situation as opposed to a Judge. Both parents need to agree to utilize a Parenting Consultant for their family.
Parenting Time Expeditor (PTE)
A Parenting Time Expeditor is a neutral third party that has been appointed by the Court to help a family with continuing disputes. A Parenting Time Expeditor does not have the full authority to decide issues and make modifications to the parties’ order, as a Parenting Consultant does. A Parenting Time Expeditor only has the authority to interpret, enforce, and clarify the current order for the parties, when the parties dispute or do not follow the provisions in an order.
